6 Great Easter Bundt Cake Ideas

Welcome to my little collection of pretty and easy Easter Bundt cake ideas!

I know Easter celebrations often center around chocolate eggs, but I love to have a beautiful centerpiece dessert when we do an Easter lunch or dinner. This selection of easy Bundt cake recipes fits the bill perfectly.

Bundt cakes are visually stunning. And the best part about them is that as long as you have a decorative pan, they’re easy cakes to make and decorate. The open center of the cake makes it ideal for filling with Easter candy, chocolate eggs or decorated boiled eggs. And you don’t need to cover a Bundt cake with loads of frosting as you would with a layer cake (although you can, if you want!).

Chocolate cake recipes are the go-to for Easter but there are plenty of other flavor profiles to think about here. I like to get as much flavor as I can into the cake itself, given there’s less emphasis on the frosting. To that end, try a lemon Bundt cake, or a coconut cake. Or maybe a classic pound cake scented with vanilla extract, or my favorite for Easter, a carrot Bundt cake with cream cheese frosting.

Notes on Bundt pans for cakes

They used to be the domain of specialist kitchen shops, but you can buy Bundt pans at all sorts of stores now, including many big-box stores. Firsthand experience says that it pays to buy heavier, sturdier Bundt pans rather than very cheap and thin ones. Thicker metal pans will conduct the heat through your cake more evenly, and they don’t warp as the thinner ones sometimes do.

My current favorite Bundt for decorating is this swirly one I use for my carrot cake. I have several others, including this gorgeous Nordic Ware pan I dragged all over the USA and Europe on a holiday years ago, after finding it on sale early in our trip (imagine my husband’s delight every time we repacked at a different destination, having to fit it into our suitcase! Haha). Next on my list is a cute mini Bundt pan, but I’m waiting for a decent sale before I invest! I’ve gotten some great Bundt pans at a deep discount, so if you love them too, it’s worth watching out for end of season sales or discontinued patterns.

I cannot overstate this: whichever recipe you’re using, grease your Bundt pan VERY well. Some people swear by a mixture of vegetable shortening and flour smeared around the inside. Very soft butter and a pastry brush also does the job nicely and is my preference.

Use the brush bristles to push butter right into the crevasses and corners of the pan; this will give you a thicker layer of grease than melted butter or oil. That in turn means your cake will come out of the pan in one piece after baking.
