Hello, my Insiders!
Today’s feature recipe is one of those genuinely brilliant weeknight solutions: coconut steamed fish and rice, where fish, greens, a coconut curry marinade, and rice all go into the steam oven together and come out ready to serve, all at the same time. No juggling pots, no timing gymnastics — just set it and let the oven do the coordinating for you.
There’s more steamed fish inspiration in From the Archives if this one’s got you in the mood for seafood, and in A Thing I’m Loving I’m telling you about a foodie site I’ve used and loved for years.
Happy steam oven cooking, see you in a couple of weeks!

Coconut Steamed Fish and Rice
This is the kind of dinner that feels like it shouldn’t be as easy as it is. Fish, greens, a fragrant coconut curry marinade, and rice all cook together in the steam oven, and everything reaches perfectly cooked at once, with minimal hands on effort from you.
The steam oven is what makes the one-dish approach actually work: it cooks everything gently and evenly, so the fish stays tender and the rice steams perfectly rather than turning gluggy. It’s comfort food made very simple, which is exactly the kind of recipe I love having on rotation.

A Thing I'm Loving
I’ve been a happy member of Eat Your Books for years now. I may even have mentioned it before, but it’s worth another mention in case some of you aren’t aware of it! It started life as a simple way to catalogue and index your own cookbook collection, but it’s grown into something much bigger — a genuine one-stop shop for searching recipes across your own books and online, with a great phone app to match.
If you mostly cook from online recipes, I’d recommend signing up for the free membership. It allows for a limited number of cookbook imports but gives you unlimited searching and saving from the huge range of online recipes they’ve already indexed. And if you’re like me, with a substantial paper cookbook collection taking up shelf space, it’s a brilliant way to finally make that collection searchable.
Ask Me Anything (AMA)
This is your best opportunity to ask me anything you like about steam oven cooking.
I continue to answer some AMA questions via email, but my goal is to respond to more of them as articles on the Steam & Bake website. This makes the answers easier to search and refer back to if the same questions come up again. Whenever a new article is published in response to an AMA question, I’ll let you know here in our Insiders journals.
If you have a question, big or small, please email it to [email protected]. Be sure to include INSIDERS AMA in the subject line so I can easily collect and review all submissions.
