Prepare your ingredients for making lemon glazed scones.
Put flour in a big bowl and zest the lemon directly into it. Save the lemon, you will use the juice later.
Tip in cold butter.
Rub the butter into the flour and zest with your fingertips until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs. Then add the sugar.
Pour buttermilk into the well and stir with a flat-bladed knife until your lemon scone dough forms. It will be slightly lumpy and uneven.
Knead the dough on a floured surface. With a sharp knife, cut the dough into triangles. Dust the knife with flour between each cut.
Place scones onto the prepared pan.
Bake your lemon glazed scones until light golden and puffed.
Drizzle the scones with lemon glaze made from lemon juice and powdered sugar. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!
